Screen & Storm Door Installation in Mount Pleasant, SC

A screen or storm door needs to fit the opening, clear the existing hardware, and close consistently. I review the frame and product requirements before installation so the new door works with the entry you already have.

Details that make a difference

Measure the opening the manufacturer asks for

A nominal door size does not guarantee a fit. Width can vary between the top and bottom of the opening, and exterior trim determines where the new frame can attach. Each product has its own measurement requirements. Send the product link and photos of the opening before buying; additional measurements may be needed.

Look at the entry as a whole

The storm-door handle needs room beside the main door’s hardware. Swing direction, steps, porch space, and the closer’s mounting area also affect the installation. A new unit can expose damaged or uneven trim that was hidden behind the old frame. Any necessary trim repair should be included in the confirmed scope.

Closing force and alignment work together

A closer that shuts too quickly or a latch that misses can make an otherwise good door frustrating. I check how the door hangs and latches before treating the closer adjustment as the only solution. Coastal exposure also makes hardware condition worth reviewing. Significant frame rot or a rebuilt entry is outside a routine installation.

Questions about screen & storm door installation

Can you replace an existing storm door?

Yes, when the opening and mounting surfaces are suitable. Include photos of the existing frame and tell me whether removal is needed.

Can you repair a door that slams?

Often a closer or alignment issue can be reviewed as a defined repair. Send photos of the closer and describe the closing behavior.

Do you also repair porch screens?

Selected porch-screen repairs can be reviewed. Send a wide view and close-ups of damaged panels so the scope can be assessed.
